How to Create Parent-Child Relationships Maria, October 28, 2024June 2, 2025 I mentioned in one of the articles I wrote that creating a variation on Amazon is one of my least favorite tasks to do. Why? Because I never get it right the first time especially when uploading a feed file. There’s always some kind of error code that would prevent a successful submission of the feed file. So I always have to resubmit until the records submitted show DONE instead of ACTION REQUIRED. If you want to be better (or faster) at creating parent-child relationships, bookmark this link. You have to be logged in to Seller Central to be able to view the page. For quick reference, see the table below. It shows how to properly populate the feed file to lessen your number of resubmissions. As you can see on the table below, the PARENT SKU shouldn’t have size, color, parent SKU, relationship type, price and quantity. If you fill out any of these attributes, you can expect to resubmit. If you want to change an existing parent-child relationship, you will first have to delete the existing parent listing and then create a new parent-child relationship. Deleting or adding a child variation from the parent listing directly from Seller Central doesn’t work almost always so if you want to save time, just delete the existing parent listing and create a new one.
