HELP NEEDED: Looking for a Price Comparison Chrome Extension

Maria, November 10, 2024June 2, 2025

This week alone I had to create a price comparison table involving different marketplaces in the UK–i.e. Wayfair, Very, B&Q, Bedkingdom–and I had to monitor it regularly. Unfortunately, there’s no price comparison chrome extension or software that exists (yet). I tried looking and testing what’s available but none worked based on my preferences/requirements. And because I haven’t found any chrome extension, I had to do the price comparison table manually. What that means is, I have to check the listings in these marketplaces individually to see the current selling price. It was very time consuming and I had to do it twice.

What’s the need for this software?

It’s mainly because of Amazon’s price matching policy. At the start of the month, one of the accounts I’m managing lost the buy box on 29 SKUs because of external competitive pricing. In order to bring back the buy box on these SKUs, I have to match the external prices and before I can do that, I need to ask approval from the management team because the margins will take a hit. And to get approval, I need to provide proof that the other marketplaces have significantly lowered their prices which led to losing the buy box on Amazon.

Based on the price comparison table that I did, one of the marketplaces started their Black Friday deals early, everything at 25% discount, and are scheduled to run until 2nd of December. There are only 2 options to resolve this–match the price or bring back the original price (without discount).

In summary, while I get notifications from Amazon about losing the buy box due to external competitive pricing, Amazon does not disclose what platform has the lowest selling price. And I can’t keep manually checking and comparing the selling prices across different marketplaces because I have a lot of things to do. Developing this custom chrome extension entered my mind but that would mean financial and time investment on my part which I don’t have at the moment.
